Cover all: we review Naturalmat's 'Goose Down Duvet'

We test out the Naturalmat's 'Goose Down Duvet' to see if it's worth committing to

It is important to start this review by saying that I absolutely did not want a new duvet; I have had the same German feather duvet since I went to university and cannot love an item more than I love it. It's the perfect squashy, malleable, pull-around-yourself in a cocoon of feathers duvet and I have never felt a need to change. However, it is older than I care to admit, in dire need of a wash and was time to test the waters. Naturally, I went into the whole new duvet affair with no hope that I'd like anything else nearly half as much as I love my own. Reader: I have been proved wrong. The Naturalmat 'Goose Down Duvet' won over my affections after one single night. I chose it as it has the same downy innards as my beloved former duvet and I chose well.

Naturalmat ‘Goose Down’ duvet: is it worth buying?

The Naturalmat ‘Goose Down Duvet’ made an immediate impression, delivered in a sturdy paper packet, inside of which is a biodegradable bag, printed with biodegradable ink, containing the duvet. It's rare and exhilarating to have something delivery in an environmentally-friendly way and I was instantly impressed. Out of the packaging, the duvet made the right crisp, crunchy noises that a proper down duvet should, and you can see the stitched pockets that stop the feathers from all gathering at one end or another.

The filling is all goose down and feathers; the feathers provide structure while the down makes it plump and cosy. It is available in two togs: 4.5 for summer and 9 for winter (I have the latter). The casing is 100% organic cotton, making it feel lovely even without a duvet cover on, and what's very surprising about the Naturalmat ‘Goose Down’ duvet is that it is made right here in the UK.

All in all, this is a wonder of a duvet, made from high quality, organic, breathable and environmentally friendly products that simply help you sleep better. The combination of down and feathers regulates your heat and the lack of synthetic fibres works wonders for keeping you cool and comfortable.
